MASSEUA - Halkidiki

Masseua, off the coast of Halkidiki, is one of those Mediterranean wrecks we keep coming back to. There’s something genuinely eerie about the way it sits, upright and relatively intact at just 10 metres. You can swim right through the wheelhouse, seeing sunlight filter through gaps where windows once were. It’s a shallow dive, perfect for extending your bottom time, and the wreck itself is just begging to be explored. We love how the metal has become completely encrusted, a patchwork of sponges and hydroids, providing shelter for moray eels tucked into crevices and schools of ornate wrasse darting in and out. The real draw here is the history, a tangible connection to an older world, not just a pile of broken bits. We always recommend taking it slow, letting your eyes adjust to the shadows within the hull. Look for the glint of cardinalfish tucked deep inside. It's an easy dive, current is usually minimal, and it’s a brilliant spot for newer wreck divers to get a feel for penetration in a very safe environment, or for photographers wanting to practice composition with that moody, atmospheric light.
