NORSEMAN - Halkidiki

The Norseman wreck in Halkidiki offers a real slice of history, shallow enough for almost anyone to enjoy. We love how accessible this site is, sitting in just 10 metres of water. It’s the remains of a steamship, torpedoed in 1916 during WWI, making it less about pristine coral and more about diving a tangible piece of the past. You’ll find the wreck spread out across the seabed, broken but still retaining its ship-like form in places. There are large metal plates, ribs, and sections of the hull to explore. Sunlight penetrates easily, illuminating the structure and the schools of small fish, like damselfish and juvenile bream, that dart in and out of the crevices. We’ve even spotted moray eels peeking out from under the larger plates. It’s an easy dive, perfect for photographers wanting to capture the moody atmosphere or anyone keen on wreck diving without the usual depth challenges. We’d suggest going in the morning before any wind picks up, when the visibility tends to be at its best.
