COMPAGNION III - Zakynthos & Ionian Islands

The *Companion III* wreck off Zakynthos is a proper journey back in time, and we love it for exactly that. This isn't some deep, dark ghost ship, but a freighter that ran aground in 1982, now lying in a shallow 15 metres. What you get here is fantastic light penetration, illuminating every corner of its broken hull. We’ve found ourselves drifting over the stern, watching shafts of sunlight cut through the water, revealing clouds of damselfish darting in and out of the rusted metal. It’s an easy dive, perfect for anyone who wants to spend a good hour exploring without worrying about depth or currents. Our favourite part is the way the wreck has become a home. Moray eels peer from crevices, and octopus are regulars, often spotted camouflaged against the hull plates. You can actually poke around the cargo hold, imagining what it once carried. Just remember, it's an older wreck, so be mindful of sharp edges, and leave anything you find where it is. It’s a fascinating bit of history, right there for you to explore.
