ELETIN III - Zakynthos & Ionian Islands

ELETIN III sits just off Zakynthos, a casualty of the sea that’s now become one of our favourite wreck dives in the Ionian. You’re looking at a mostly intact stern section, resting upright in a shallow 18 metres. We love how the light plays on the metal, especially in the mid-morning when the sun penetrates the gloom and illuminates the swim-throughs. Keep an eye out for moray eels tucked into every crevice; we’ve spotted some absolute monsters here, and often a few inquisitive dusky groupers will eyeball you from a safe distance. The real draw, though, is the sheer density of glassfish that swarm around the superstructure. They’re so thick they sometimes block out the ambient light, creating this shimmering, living curtain that’s genuinely mesmerising. Our tip? Bring a good torch, even for a day dive. It’ll help you pick out the smaller critters hiding in the darker corners and really appreciate the colours of the sponges and anemones that have colonised the hull. ELETIN III is a fantastic dive for photographers and wreck enthusiasts alike, offering plenty to explore without being overly challenging.
