VALIANT - Zakynthos & Ionian Islands

Valiant in Zakynthos is one of our favourite yacht wrecks in the Mediterranean, a real charmer. Sunk in '79 during some rough weather, it’s not particularly deep, only 10 metres, which means plenty of ambient light filters down, making the colours really pop. We love the way the deck structure has collapsed inwards, creating these open sections that are easy to peek into. You’ll find schools of damselfish flitting in and out of the old cabins and a surprising number of scorpionfish camouflaged against the rust. What makes Valiant special is how approachable it is. It’s a gentle introduction to wreck diving, perfect for those building confidence. You can spend a good chunk of time just finning around, exploring the bow and stern, watching the sea bream graze on the soft corals that are slowly engulfing the metalwork. Go on a sunny morning; the light rays dancing through the water column really make it sing.
