KT Eros UJ-2216 - Portofino & Liguria

The KT Eros, or UJ-2216, isn't just a dive; it’s a history lesson dropped deep in the Ligurian Sea. This German auxiliary minesweeper, sunk in 1944, sits bolt upright on a sandy bottom at 51 metres, a truly imposing sight as it looms into view out of the blue. We love how intact she is, her deck guns still angled slightly skyward, the bridge structure a ghostly silhouette. Exploring the main deck, you’ll find cracks where the hull has buckled, now home to clouds of tiny glassfish, their scales catching the torchlight. This is a dive for technical divers, no question, and one where we’d always recommend bringing a good light to really appreciate the scale and atmosphere. It’s got that quiet, sombre feel that only a well-preserved historical wreck can deliver.
