With 70+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dolphins, humpback whales, mobula rays (devil rays) and oceanic whitetip sharks - Lago Nero offers some of Portofino & Liguria's richest reef diving. Water ranges 14-27°C, warmest July, August, September.
Lago Nero, near Portofino, offers a straightforward Mediterranean shore dive. The entry can be a little rocky, but once you're in, you'll find a series of rocky slopes and walls. Look for octopuses tucked into crevices and small nudibranchs on the algae. It’s a decent option for a relaxed dive, especially if you’re looking to explore the local shallows away from the boat traffic.
