Punta del Faro - Portofino & Liguria

Punta del Faro is a standout for us in the Portofino area, particularly if you’re into dramatic wall dives. We love dropping onto that sheer face, watching it plunge from about 15 metres all the way down to 40. The current can be a bit frisky here, so it's a good intermediate spot; you'll want to be comfortable with your buoyancy. What makes it special? The sheer scale, for one, and the way the light filters through the deeper sections, illuminating those fantastic gorgonian fans. We've seen some truly impressive patches of red coral here, vibrant against the rock face, along with plenty of bushy coral and sunset cup corals. Keep an eye out for the common lobsters tucked into crevices; they’re often a bit shy but worth seeking out. Moray eels are a given, their heads peering out, and we’ve spotted some hefty Mediterranean scorpionfish perched camouflaged on the rocks. If you’re lucky, a garrupa might make an appearance, or a curious moonfish. This dive really suits those who appreciate the architecture of the underwater world and don’t mind a bit of current for the rewards.
