Relitto Concordia (Wreck) - Portofino & Liguria

The Relitto Concordia, off the coast of Portofino, is one of those wrecks that just hits right. It’s a fishing trawler, sunk in the 1970s, now resting upright on a sandy bottom at 36 metres. We love how intact it is. You can still make out the superstructure, the wheelhouse, even the mast lying across the deck. Descending onto the wreck, the cooler temperature at depth really reminds you you're in the Mediterranean, not some tropical bathtub. The holds are open, offering easy, silty penetration for those comfortable with overhead environments. Our favourite part is the engine room, surprisingly accessible and usually home to a fat conger eel eyeing you suspiciously from the shadows. Look closely at the deck plating, where a mosaic of yellow cluster anemones and colourful nudibranchs cling on. This isn't a wreck teeming with big pelagics, but the sheer number of red scorpionfish, moray eels, and damselfish flitting through the railings makes it feel alive. Visibility can be variable, but on a good day, the light filtering down creates an almost theatrical scene. It’s an intermediate dive, the depth and potential for current mean you need to be comfortable. Go in the late morning, after the initial boat traffic dies down.
