Relitto Haven - Portofino & Liguria

We love Relitto Haven for its distinct character, quite different from the typical Ligurian reef dives. Down at 49 metres, the wreck of a small cargo ship, believed to be the *Haven*, lies upright and surprisingly intact. Descending to it, the light starts to fade, and the feeling shifts from a vibrant reef to something much more somber and historical. What makes this wreck special is the way nature has reclaimed it. The ship’s superstructure is encrusted with gorgonian fans, their delicate branches swaying gently in the subtle currents, and schools of schooling fish dart through the open holds. Look closely in the darker corners and you’ll often spot lobsters tucked away, or a moray eel peeking from a porthole. It’s an intermediate dive, really best for those comfortable with deeper profiles and managing their gas, as bottom time can be limited. We find it’s best done early in the morning before any boat traffic stirs up the silty bottom, ensuring the clearest visibility to appreciate the wreck’s details.
