Why dive here
With 70+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dolphins, humpback whales, mobula rays (devil rays) and oceanic whitetip sharks - Santa Lucia Bank offers some of Portofino & Liguria's richest diving. Water ranges 14-27°C, warmest July, August, September.
Santa Lucia Bank gives divers a taste of the Ligurian Sea's deeper attractions. We found good gorgonian coverage, particularly red fan corals, clinging to the rocky slopes. Keep an eye out for lobsters tucked into crevices and the occasional passing pelagic. It's a solid choice for experienced divers comfortable with moderate currents looking for classic Mediterranean reef scenes.
