Tyfliss Wreck - Portofino & Liguria
The Tyfliss Wreck, sitting upright at 47 metres, is our favourite deep wreck in the Portofino marine park. This isn't just a pile of rusted metal; it's a remarkably intact freighter, and you can practically hear the whispers of its past life. We love finning along the deck, peering into cargo holds that once carried goods across the Med. The holds are now home to thick walls of spiny lobsters, their antennae twitching in the gloom. Look closely at the superstructure and you’ll find plenty of moray eels poking their heads out, looking very territorial indeed. The stern, with its impressive rudder and prop, is especially photogenic against the deep blue. This dive is definitely for the experienced, confident deep diver. We always plan our run time carefully here; the temptation to linger is strong. Visibility can vary, but on a good day, the wreck stands starkly from the seabed, a truly grand sight. Best dived early morning before the boat traffic picks up.
