Wreck of MT Haven - Portofino & Liguria

Forget what you think you know about Tioman's wrecks, because the HMS Prince of Wales offers something genuinely different. This isn’t a quick jaunt; it’s a proper expedition, a deep dive into history. We're talking about a King George V-class battleship, sunk in 1941, lying broken on the seabed. It’s an intimidating sight, a colossal metal skeleton that feels like a tomb. Dropping down, the sheer scale hits you first. Twisted metal, huge gun turrets, and the superstructure are all slowly being reclaimed by the ocean. Visibility here can be a bit moody, especially if there's been some rain, but when it clears, the atmosphere is incredible. You can glide over the massive deck, peer into dark openings where schools of fusiliers swirl, and imagine the chaos of its final moments. It's a deep dive, usually around 50 metres, so it’s for advanced divers who are comfortable with decompression and overhead environments. Our favourite moments are always spotting the resident groupers, huge potato cod often lurking in the shadowed sections, and the occasional reef shark patrolling the perimeter. It's a sombre, powerful dive, a truly humbling experience that demands respect. Go early in the morning for the best chance of settled conditions.
