CITTA DI SIRACUSA - Ustica

The Città di Siracusa isn’t just a wreck; it’s a time capsule. We think it’s one of the most atmospheric dives in Ustica, especially when the light shafts down through the Mediterranean blue onto its relatively shallow deck at 22 metres. This World War I steamship feels incredibly preserved, almost like the crew just stepped off, leaving a haunting silhouette against the sand. You’ll weave through the collapsed but still recognisable bow, past the anchor chains, and into the hold where schools of glinting damselfish flit amongst the shadows. Look closely for the moray eels peeking from the nooks and crannies, and the occasional dusky grouper lurking under the deeper hull sections. It’s a dive that rewards slow exploration, letting the history sink in, and it’s perfectly suited for those who appreciate wrecks with a story, without needing extreme depth or currents. Our favourite moment is always that first glimpse of its ghostly outline emerging from the blue.
