Grotta Azzurra - Ustica
The Grotta Azzurra, or Blue Grotto, on Ustica is a popular stop, and for good reason. It’s a shallow cave, generally no deeper than 15 meters, perfect for newer divers or those looking for an easy, relaxing plunge. Sunlight filters through the entrance, catching the suspended particles and creating these incredible, electric blue shafts of light that dance around the cave walls. You’ll find the rocks here thick with sponges and red coral, and it’s a good spot to quietly observe salema and ornate wrasse flitting about. It’s certainly a memorable cavern dive without any of the challenging aspects you might find elsewhere.
