OMNIA BENE - Ustica

Omnia Bene, Ustica’s shallowest wreck, holds a quiet charm we truly appreciate. It’s an easy dive, barely six metres deep, making it perfect for anyone looking to get acquainted with a piece of history without the pressure of depth or currents. We love gliding over the remains of the old barge, which settled here after a storm in 1928, the wooden skeleton now a sprawling platform for all sorts of Mediterranean critters. As you fin over the timbers, you'll spot scorpionfish perfectly camouflaged against the encrusted wood, their spines barely visible. Schools of juvenile barracuda often hang around the larger, more intact sections, shimmering silver in the shafts of sunlight that pierce the surface. Our favourite detail? The way the light plays through the gaps in the hull, creating these dancing patterns on the sandy seabed beneath. It's a beautiful, contemplative dive, more about observing the interplay of history and nature than chasing big pelagics. We’d suggest going in the late afternoon; the lower sun angle really enhances the wreck's contours and makes for some great photo opportunities.
