Relitto Capua - Ustica
The Relitto Capua. What a beautiful old girl she is. We love how this wreck has settled upright, perfectly oriented to catch the light and the currents, making her feel less like a ghost and more like a sleeping giant. Dropping onto the deck, you’re immediately struck by the sheer scale; her bow looms large, encrusted with so many colourful sponges and anemones that the metal is barely visible. Our favourite part is the penetration into the holds, where schools of glinting barracuda often circle, catching the beams of your torch. It’s not a deep dive, making it accessible for most advanced open water divers, but don’t rush it. Take your time to explore the bridge area, where nudibranchs and flatworms hide amongst the growth, and keep an eye out for resident groupers peering out from shadowy corners. We’d suggest going in the late morning, as the sun penetrates the surface just enough to highlight the Capua’s impressive structure against the blue. It’s a proper wreck dive, satisfying for those who love history and marine life in equal measure.
