Roman Columns
Protected Area
Fondali di Taormina - Isola Bella
Why dive here
With 60+ marine species recorded in the area - including dolphins, sea turtles and sperm whales - Roman Columns offers some of Ustica's richest diving. Water ranges 15-29°C, warmest July, August, September.
Dropping onto the sand flats off Ustica, you’ll find the Roman Columns, an unusual archaeological site. Several ancient columns lie scattered across the seabed, remnants of a shipwreck or perhaps an old pier. It's a gentle dive, good for photographers keen to capture the historical artifacts against the blue, and suitable for less experienced divers looking for something a bit different from a typical reef.
