    San Giovanni, just off Ustica’s coast, isn't your typical deep wreck. It’s actually a shallow plane wreck, resting in only about three metres of water. We love it for a relaxed second dive, or even a snorkel, when the sun is high. The fuselage is broken up but still recognisable, and it’s become home to a surprising amount of small stuff: juvenile groupers darting in and out, damselfish guarding their territory, and sometimes a curious octopus peeking from a crevice. It’s an easy, calm dive, great for photographers wanting to play with natural light, or anyone who just wants to spend some time poking around a piece of history.
