FERROLANO - Al Hoceima

The Ferrolano sits at a comfortable 12 metres, making it a great dive for anyone comfortable with a wreck. It’s not one of those massive, intimidating wrecks; it’s a small cargo ship, sunk sometime in the mid-20th century, and it feels more like an artificial reef than a tragic vessel. We love how the light plays on the hull, especially on a sunny afternoon, filtering through the water and highlighting the rust-coloured metal. You can swim through a few open sections, peeking into what used to be cargo holds, now home to schools of curious damselfish and the occasional moray eel peeking from a dark corner. The wreck’s structure is well-colonised with bright sponges and small anemones. It’s the perfect size for a relaxed single dive, giving you plenty of time to explore without feeling rushed. We'd suggest going in the late morning, the visibility tends to be at its best then, and the surface chop is often calmer.
