FRANCISCO VEIGA - Al Hoceima

The Francisco Veiga wreck in Al Hoceima holds a special charm. It's not a deep dive, sitting at a comfortable 12 metres, which means plenty of bottom time for everyone. We love that this fishing vessel, sunk back in 1960 after a collision, has become a proper home for marine life. You can glide over the deck, peer into the holds, and really get a sense of its history. What makes it standout, for us, isn't just the story of the wreck itself, but the way nature has reclaimed it. Schools of colourful damselfish flit in and out of the superstructure, and we’ve spotted moray eels tucked into crevices more times than we can count. The ambient light at this depth creates a lovely, ethereal glow, especially in the late morning. It’s an ideal site for anyone keen on wreck photography, or just looking to enjoy a relaxed dive with a good dose of history and marine interaction. We'd suggest aiming for a calm day to really appreciate the visibility around the wreck.
