GRACIA DE DIOS (POSSIBLY) - Al Hoceima

Now, this is a peculiar one, and we love it for that. The "Gracia de Dios (Possibly)" isn’t your typical Al Hoceima dive. First off, it’s a wreck. A fishing vessel, apparently, that went down in 1968 after being capsized by a huge wave. The "possibly" in the name just adds to the mystery, making it feel like you're diving into a piece of local legend rather than just another sunken boat. We've found it sitting upside down, which gives it a really unique profile. You descend into a strange, inverted world, the hull forming a dark ceiling above you. Light filters in around the edges, creating an eerie glow, especially if you catch it on a sunny afternoon. The structure itself is pretty broken up, but you can still make out the stern and what’s left of the bow. Schools of sea bream often hang around the deeper parts, darting into the shadows as you approach, and we’ve spotted moray eels peeking out from under plates of rusted metal. Our favourite discovery was a massive conger eel that seemed to have claimed a particularly sheltered spot near the keel. It’s not a deep dive, which is a bonus, meaning plenty of bottom time to really explore the nooks and crannies. This site suits divers who appreciate a bit of history and don't mind a wreck that tells a slightly sad, intriguing story.
