GUINIGUADA - Al Hoceima
We love Guinguada for its sheer accessibility, a genuine rarity for a wreck of this character. This isn't some deep, dark behemoth. Instead, the Guinguada sits almost entirely exposed, its bow often breaking the surface on calm days. It feels more like exploring a submerged sculpture garden than a traditional wreck dive. You're ducking under twisted metal, finning through schools of juvenile barracuda that glint like scattered coins in the sunlight. Our favourite way to dive it is early morning, when the light catches the rust-coloured hull just right, illuminating the crevices where octopus like to hide. Look closely, and you'll spot moray eels peeking from every pipe and gap, almost daring you to get closer. It’s an easy dive, perfect for extending bottom time and really soaking in the details. Because it's so shallow, you can spend ages just watching the light play on the hull, tracing the outlines of the cargo holds, or admiring the anemones clinging to the deck plates. It’s a great pick for photographers or anyone who prefers a relaxed, exploratory dive over a deep descent.
