This E-class destroyer, sunk in 1934, lies at a depth that suits advanced open water divers, offering plenty of time to explore without pushing limits. We love how the Mediterranean has slowly, gently reclaimed it, softening the harsh lines of the warship with sponges and anemones. Dropping onto the deck, you can still trace the outline of its purpose, the gun turrets still prominent, though encrusted. Swim-throughs are tempting, but we’d suggest sticking to the exterior and superstructure unless you’ve got advanced wreck training. Keep an eye out for loggerhead turtles; they often cruise by, making a stately appearance through the blue. The visibility here can be superb, letting the entire wreck come into view as you descend.
