JOSEFINA - Al Hoceima

Josefina isn't your typical wreck dive, and that's precisely why we love it. This isn't a deep, technical exploration. Instead, the wreck sits in a mere two metres of water, right near the shore, making it perfect for snorkelers, freedivers, and even just a leisurely wade with a mask and fins. What we really appreciate about Josefina is its accessibility and the sheer volume of life that has moved in. You'll fin over rusted metal plates, beams, and what looks like parts of the engine, all encrusted with colourful sponges and soft corals. Light dapples through the shallow water, illuminating schools of small damselfish darting between the crevices. We've seen octopus here, tucked into shadowy corners, and plenty of nudibranchs grazing on the algae-covered structure. It’s a fantastic site for photographers looking for interesting light play and macro subjects, especially in the late morning when the sun is a bit higher. Our tip? Go early to avoid any daytrippers, and you'll have the wreck largely to yourself, a surprising amount of history in such a shallow, unassuming spot.
