LANDFORT - Al Hoceima

Landfort is a tricky one, and not for the faint of heart. This isn't your typical pretty reef dive; it’s an adventure. The wreck sits in just 5 metres, a skeletal remains of a cargo ship that ran aground way back in 1934. It's properly broken up, but that’s what makes it interesting. You swim through the twisted metal, imagining the chaos, seeing where the ocean has reclaimed it all. We love Landfort for its stark beauty. It’s a photographer’s dream on a sunny day, with shafts of light piercing the shallow water and illuminating the rusty structure. The hull plates are draped in dense growths of sponges and anemones, and we’ve spotted moray eels peeking out from crevices. Look out for schools of juvenile fish darting amongst the wreckage; they really bring the place to life. Our advice? Go at high tide when the surge is less pronounced, and watch your buoyancy. It's a proper wreck experience for those who appreciate history and don't mind a bit of a challenge.
