Landfort isn't just a dive site, it's a history lesson, and one of our favourite spots in Al Hoceima for a relaxed, atmospheric dive. This former ferry ran aground in the 1970s and now sits in incredibly shallow water. We're talking 0m to 5m, meaning you can actually snorkel parts of it, or even see its upper decks from the surface on a calm day. It’s an ideal spot for newer divers, or anyone who enjoys exploring a wreck without the pressure of depth or strong currents. The ship is largely intact, with much of its superstructure still recognisable. You can swim through the old car deck, where shafts of sunlight pierce through gaps, illuminating schools of small damselfish darting between encrusted metalwork. We often see moray eels peeking from crevices, and the sheer volume of nudibranchs clinging to the hull is impressive. Our top tip: go on a sunny morning. The light penetration is stunning, transforming the wreck into a cathedral of blue and green. It's a genuinely tranquil dive, letting you linger and really take in the decay and the new life that’s colonised it.
