MARIAS Y MANUEL - Al Hoceima

Marias y Manuel, sitting in just two metres of water, might not sound like much, but it’s our pick for a surprising dip in Al Hoceima. This old fishing vessel, now completely broken up, is less a wreck dive and more a fascinating archaeological snorkel. You’ll find its scattered remains, a jumble of twisted metal and wooden ribs, spread across a shallow, sandy patch. We love drifting over the debris, spotting the resident bream darting between rusted pipes and the occasional octopus tucked under a metal sheet. The light here is incredible, shafts of sun piercing the surface, illuminating the sand and making the fish glow. It’s perfect for photographers wanting to play with ambient light and wide angles, or for anyone who enjoys a relaxed, shallow exploration without the fuss of tanks. Come at slack tide for the best visibility, when the sand isn't stirred up. We’d suggest a long snorkel or free dive, allowing you to really take your time and appreciate the details.
