MELUCHA - Al Hoceima

Melucha is one of our favourite little wreck dives in Al Hoceima, sitting in a comfortable 14 metres of water. It’s a fishing vessel, not huge, but it's got enough character to keep you poking around for a good while. We love how the Mediterranean light filters down, dappling the metal hull, making the resident damselfish flit in and out of the shadows. What makes it special for us is the way it’s settled on the sandy seabed, almost perfectly upright. You can spend your dive exploring the deck, imagining the fishing days, and peering into the collapsed wheelhouse where schools of juvenile barracuda often hang out. Look closely at the hull and you’ll spot nudibranchs, usually a few different types, grazing on the algae. This site is perfect for newer wreck divers or anyone who just wants a relaxing dive without deep commitments. It’s an easy, calm exploration, and we often find ourselves lingering longer than planned, just watching the anthias swarm.
