OLTERRA - Al Hoceima

The Olterra wreck is a proper time capsule, sitting upright in just 10 metres of water. We love a shallow wreck, especially one with a story like this old German U-boat chaser. You can spend a whole hour just finning around, through the open holds, and over the deck, really taking in the scale of it all. It’s been down there since the 1940s, and the Mediterranean has certainly made itself at home – expect to see schools of damselfish flitting through the superstructure and octopus tucked into every available crevice. It’s perfect for new wreck divers, or anyone who just wants a relaxed dive with plenty to explore. Our favourite part is definitely poking around the stern; the light plays beautifully through the metalwork there. We’d suggest going in the morning; the viz tends to be clearer then, and you might get the site to yourself before the day boats arrive.
