PERLIO - Al Hoceima

Perlio, off Al Hoceima, is a proper chunk of history at 28 metres. We’re talking about a dredger, sunk back in the day while being towed from Melilla to Marbella. It went down with a good old sea blow, and you can almost feel that struggle when you’re finning around it. This wreck isn't about fancy swim-throughs, it’s about the sheer scale of the machinery. You can trace the outline of its working parts, the massive scoop, and the conduits that would have shifted all that seabed. We love seeing the way groupers have made homes in the deeper recesses, and the schools of damselfish that shimmer over the deck plating. The visibility here can be excellent, especially in late summer, giving you a real sense of the wreck's impressive silhouette against the blue. It’s a site for divers who appreciate a substantial piece of maritime heritage rather than a coral garden.
