KIRKHOLMEN - Stavanger & Rogaland

Kirkeholmen isn't your typical colourful reef dive, and honestly, we love it for that. This site is pure, gritty Norwegian wreck diving, the kind that really sticks with you. Dropping down, you’re enveloped in that cool, green northern light, and the silhouette of the fishing vessel emerges from the murk. It’s not just a pile of metal; you can still make out the wheelhouse, parts of the mast, and the hull, largely intact, resting on a rocky slope at around 20 metres. We always find something new here, whether it’s a plump cod peeking out from a porthole or a grumpy wolf fish holding court in the engine room. Barnacles and anemones have started to reclaim the metal, softening the edges of what was once a working boat. It’s an evocative dive, perfect for those who appreciate history and a bit of a challenge, rather than just chasing tropical fish. The feeling of swimming through a piece of someone else's past, now home to a new ecosystem, is genuinely compelling. Just be mindful of fishing lines; it’s still a working area for local boats.
