KVERNSUND - Stavanger & Rogaland

Kvernsund is one of those Norwegian wrecks that just delivers. Not too deep, it’s an ideal spot for a leisurely dive, especially if you’re into poking around historical bits of metal. The wreck itself is a fishing vessel, down since 1980, so it’s had plenty of time to become a proper artificial reef. We love how accessible it is; you can really spend time exploring the remains of the hull and superstructure. There’s a good chance to spot some decent-sized cod lurking in the shadows, along with wrasse darting between the frames. The visibility here can be quite good, especially on a calm day, giving you a clear view of the details. Our favourite part has to be imagining the ship in its working days, now transformed into a home for marine life. It’s a genuinely peaceful dive, perfect for photographers or anyone who appreciates the quiet history beneath the waves.
