RODA - Stavanger & Rogaland

The Roda offers a glimpse into wartime history, resting in Stavanger’s harbour since 1940. This steamship, built in 1928, went down during the invasion of Norway, and it’s a site best suited for experienced wreck divers. We found the stern section particularly intact, with the massive propeller still in place, inviting a closer look. Visibility can vary, but on a good day, you’ll pick out details of the superstructure and the large cargo holds. Keep an eye out for cod and pollock sheltering among the collapsed sections, and we often see plumose anemones clinging to the metalwork. It's a sombre, fascinating dive, more about the history than the critters, though they're certainly making it their home.
