Støytland - Stavanger & Rogaland

Støytland is a funny one. From the surface, it looks like any other rocky outcrop along the Norwegian coast, but drop below the waves and you’re into something quite different. The topography here is what we really love, a maze of cracks and gullies carved into the bedrock, creating a sheltered environment for some robust Atlantic life. We've seen some surprisingly large Atlantic cod lurking in the deeper crevices, and the saithe often form decent schools, swirling overhead in the greener light. It's a site that rewards slow, deliberate diving, peering into every nook. You might spot an anglerfish camouflaged against the rock, or a long rough dab scooting across the silty patches. We always suggest bringing a good torch, even on a bright day, to illuminate the darker corners. Støytland isn't about dramatic walls or huge pelagics, it’s about the intricate details and the hardy, beautiful species that thrive in these northern waters. Best for those who appreciate a relaxed pace and aren't afraid of a bit of chill.
