TRANSIT - Stavanger & Rogaland

The Transit wreck sits in a modest 21 meters, a depth that makes it accessible to most divers, but don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s a simple dive. We love this site for its character. It’s not one of those massive freighters, but a lighter vessel that went down suddenly in 1929. You can really get a sense of its story here. Descending, the bow and stern are still quite distinct, though the midsection has broken up a bit over the decades. What we particularly enjoy is how the structure has become an apartment block for creatures. Look closely in the nooks and crannies for squat lobsters and small crabs. We’ve found wolf fish tucked away more than once, and the coalfish here are notoriously curious, often circling overhead as you explore. Visibility can vary, but on a good day, the light filtering down onto the wreck gives it a real atmospheric feel, like you're peeling back a layer of time. It's a dive that rewards slow exploration, perfect for photographers or anyone who appreciates a bit of history beneath the waves.
