LOLITA ORTEZ - Algarve & Berlengas

The Lolita Ortez wreck, just off Faro, is one of our favourite shallow dives in the Algarve. At only 11 metres, it's perfect for a long bottom time, giving you plenty of opportunity to explore. She was a fishing trawler, and you can still make out the outline of the stern and bow, though much of the superstructure has collapsed. We love poking around the debris field, where resident octopus often peek out from behind barnacle-encrusted plates. Look closely, and you'll spot scorpionfish camouflaged against the rust, and schools of juvenile sea bream flitting through the open sections. It’s a great spot for newer wreck divers or anyone who enjoys a relaxed potter around a piece of maritime history. Visibility can be a bit variable here, so we always try to hit it on a calm morning for the best light.
