Maroudio Inglessi - Algarve & Berlengas

Maroudio Inglessi isn't just a hunk of metal on the seabed, it’s a living museum. This old cargo ship, sunk during World War II, sits upright and largely intact, inviting you to explore its various decks and cargo holds. We love how the light filters through the portholes, illuminating the resident schools of glasseyes and the occasional octopus tucked into a shadowy corner. The wreck is slowly dissolving into the ocean, providing a home for all sorts of creatures. Look closely and you’ll find nudibranchs crawling along the corroded bulkheads, while moray eels peek out from behind bent plating. The prop is still there, too, a massive, barnacle-encrusted sentinel. We'd suggest aiming for a calm day; the visibility can sometimes drop a bit with a swell, making the experience less atmospheric. This dive is definitely one for wreck enthusiasts who appreciate history and the slow, beautiful reclamation by nature.
