With 219+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, blue whales, dolphins, dwarf minke whales and hammerhead sharks - Caloura Panela offers some of Azores's richest diving. Water ranges 16-24°C, warmest August, September, October.
Caloura Panela is a good spot for newer divers, maxing out at 16 meters. We usually find it calm here, making it a relaxed dive. Look for moray eels tucked into the volcanic rock crevices and schools of ornate wrasse flitting over the seabed. It’s a comfortable introduction to Azores diving, without any major currents to contend with.
