HMS Hostile - Tabarka

Janit Reef is one of those spots that really reminds you why we dive the PNW. Forget the tropical blues; here, it’s all about the emerald green, the sheer density of life clinging to every surface. We love dropping down into the kelp forest, watching the light dapple through the fronds as you descend. It feels ancient, a living tapestry of anemones and sponges. You’re pretty much guaranteed to spot a Plainfin Midshipman tucked into a crevice, their little bioluminescent spots winking back at you. Keep an eye out for the Dungeness crabs scuttling across the seabed; they’re surprisingly quick. We find the late morning slack tide is usually the sweet spot here, giving you time to really soak it all in without fighting too much current. If you're lucky, and we mean really lucky, a pod of Orca or a Gray Whale might even cruise by in the distance, a humbling sight from below the surface. This site is perfect for divers who appreciate the subtle beauty of temperate waters and don’t mind a bit of chill for some truly unique encounters.
