HMS Manchester

The HMS Manchester is a proper dive, a deep, dark wreck that really gets under your skin. We're talking about a Gloucester-class light cruiser, sunk during World War II, lying on its side off Tabarka. When you descend, the sheer scale of it hits you. It's not some broken-up pile of metal; this is a warship, largely intact, with turrets still pointing towards the surface, eerie and powerful. We love the way the Mediterranean has completely claimed it. Forget bare steel; the Manchester is covered in sponges and anemones, a living reef. You'll see huge schools of Bogue shimmering around the deck guns, and Pandora darting in and out of the darker spaces. Keep an eye out for loggerhead turtles cruising by, and if you're lucky, a big hake might ghost past one of the torpedo tubes. This is a dive for experienced wreck enthusiasts, divers who appreciate history and don't mind a bit of current or lower visibility – it can get silty sometimes. Our favourite part is navigating the bridge section, imagining the chaos that unfolded there, now just quiet and full of fish.
