L.C.T. 28 - Tabarka

The L.C.T. 28, a landing craft sunk by a mine in 1943, sits just off Tabarka, a really accessible bit of history. We’ve always appreciated a wreck you can get to know properly, and at a max depth of 1m, this one lets you do just that. It's less about penetration, more about the atmosphere of a vessel stopped in time. The L.C.T. 28 is now an artificial reef, utterly colonised by the Mediterranean. You’ll find schools of small bream darting through the openings where the superstructure has collapsed. We love tracing the outline of the hull, spotting scorpionfish tucked into crevices and moray eels peeking from beneath twisted metal. Visibility here can vary, but on a calm day, the sunlight slices through the water, illuminating the rust colours and the green algae, giving the whole site a vivid, almost painterly feel. It’s perfect for snorkelers or new divers looking to experience a wreck without the usual depth challenges, and a great spot for underwater photography, especially when the light is just right in the late morning.
