VALFELICITA - Tabarka

The Valfelicita isn't one of those deep, spooky wrecks; she’s shallow, a mere 10 meters, making her accessible to almost everyone. This motor vessel went down in '83 after an engine room fire, a real shame for her trip from Tunis to Italy. What we love about her is how she sits, half on her side, inviting you right in. You can fin through the hold, peek into the bridge area, and really get a sense of her scale, even at this depth. For us, the Valfelicita really shines on a sunny day. The light penetrates right down, illuminating the schools of damselfish that dart in and out of her structure. We've seen moray eels peeking from crevices, and octopus often tuck themselves into the shadowed corners. Visibility here can be excellent, and when it is, the metal of the wreck takes on a kind of shimmering quality. It’s a great site for photographers, especially if you want to capture the interplay of light and shadow, or those dense shoals of fish. Our tip: go early to beat any boat traffic and enjoy the peace.
