Wreck of HMT Rohna - Tabarka

Diving the Rohna is a journey back in time, and it’s one of our favourite Mediterranean wrecks for a reason. This isn’t just some twisted metal; it’s a sombre, incredibly well-preserved piece of history. We love how the bow points north, still defiant, while the stern lies broken from the torpedo strike. You can swim through the open cargo holds, seeing the huge support beams draped in sponges, and imagine the cargo she once carried. The ambient light filtering through the open deck sections creates an almost cathedral-like atmosphere, and we’ve spent entire dives just drifting, watching the clouds of damselfish swarm over the corroded plating. Look closely and you’ll find moray eels peeking from portholes and scorpionfish camouflaged on the decks. Visibility here can vary, but on a good day, when the sun penetrates, the sheer scale of the Rohna really hits you. It's a site that suits experienced divers comfortable with deeper wrecks and overhead environments, offering plenty to explore for multiple dives. It's a truly evocative dive, a sobering reminder of wartime sacrifice that the Mediterranean has kept almost perfectly preserved.
