APAPA - Northumberland & Northeast

Northumberland diving often means wrecks, and the Apapa is one we always enjoy for its sheer size. This steamship, sunk by a U-boat in 1917, now rests upright at 37 metres. It’s a proper dive, one where you can spend an entire bottom time exploring just a fraction of its 130-metre length. We’ve found wolfish tucked into crevices around the bow, and always spot plenty of crabs scuttling over the plates. With its collapsed superstructure and visible prop shaft, there’s a real sense of history here. It’s a dark site, so bring your torch, and it's best suited for those comfortable with deeper, often chillier, conditions.
