LYRA - Northumberland & Northeast

The Lyra, an iron steamship built in Sunderland back in 1881, rests in very shallow water, making it a cracking shore dive for those looking to explore a piece of history without needing deep dive certifications. You’ll find the remains of her hull and superstructure spread across the seabed, a surprisingly large footprint for a ship her size. We’ve spotted plenty of crabs tucked into crevices and small schools of fish darting between the metalwork. It's a great spot for an extended poke around, especially on a calm day when the viz holds up.
