PESHAWUR - Northumberland & Northeast

The *Peshawur* is a wreck that really gets under your skin. Lying at 58 metres, it's a dive for experienced technical teams, no doubt about it, but the rewards are immense. We love the sheer scale of her, a huge steamship, 146 metres long, that went down in 1917. Dropping onto the bridge area, you often find yourself finning through schools of cod and pollock, sometimes so dense you need to push through them to see the structure itself. Our favourite part is exploring the cargo holds, where you can still make out the ghostly outlines of what she carried. The bow section is particularly intact, with vast plates of steel forming dramatic swim-throughs, all encrusted with white dead man's fingers and colourful jewel anemones. There’s a quiet majesty to the *Peshawur*, a sense of history preserved in the cold Northumberland water. Be prepared for low visibility, especially on a spring tide, but if you hit it right, with a bit of sunlight filtering down, it’s an incredible journey back in time. Always bring a good torch; the nooks and crannies are endless, and you’ll want to peer into every one.
