We’ve always found Doctor Reef a decent cold-water dive, especially when you’re looking for something a bit different in Nova Scotia. The site itself isn't a true coral reef in the tropical sense, but rather a robust rocky reef system covered in colourful invertebrates like star ascidians and those long-armed hermit crabs. You’ll definitely spot Atlantic cod and American lobsters tucked into crevices, and we’ve even seen harbour porpoises pass by on a good day. It’s a solid spot for divers who appreciate the unique beauty of temperate waters and don't mind a chillier plunge; think rugged charm rather than flashy corals.

    Safety Notes

Cold water this month (avg 15°C). Drysuit or thick wetsuit (7mm+) recommended.
