Hospital Reef, off the coast of Nova Scotia, is a unique cold-water dive. You’re not here for vibrant corals, but for the hardy kelp forests and the creatures that call them home. We often spot Atlantic cod nosing through the fronds, and the American lobster population here can be impressive, scuttling amongst the rocks. Keep an eye out for the distinctive lumpsucker, a surprisingly charming fish that anchors itself to surfaces with a suction cup fin. This site is best for divers who appreciate the rugged beauty of northern waters and the resilience of its marine inhabitants.
