Jollimore Reef
Why dive here
With 77+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales, ocean sunfish (mola mola) and jellyfish lake - Jollimore Reef offers some of Nova Scotia's richest reef diving. Water ranges 1-17°C, warmest August, September, October.
Jollimore Reef, just off Nova Scotia, offers a cool, brisk dive into a surprisingly active Atlantic ecosystem. We’ve found the best approach is often a shore entry, though local boat operators know the prime spots. Down around 10-15 meters, the reef provides shelter for some interesting characters. Keep an eye out for the Atlantic cod lurking in crevices and the occasional lumpsucker clinging to the rocks. It’s a solid dive for those who appreciate the subtler beauty of a cold-water reef and aren’t afraid of a bit of chill.
Safety Notes
Cold water this month (avg 15°C). Drysuit or thick wetsuit (7mm+) recommended.
