Northwest Reef, off the coast of Nova Scotia, is a cool water dive that gives you a glimpse into a different kind of marine ecosystem. It’s not the vibrant tropics, but you’ll still find plenty to hold your attention. We’ve spotted Forbes sea stars clinging to the rocks and the occasional American lobster peeking from crevices. Keep an eye out for northern pipefish darting through the Irish moss and the ubiquitous blue mussels covering the seabed. The visibility can be variable here, so pick a calm day if you can, and you’ll be rewarded with a unique East Coast experience that’s perfect for divers looking for something a bit out of the ordinary.

    Safety Notes

Cold water this month (avg 15°C). Drysuit or thick wetsuit (7mm+) recommended.
